This week’s listener questions ask about how to go about adding double runs into your routine while Moose looks into getting a lactate threshold testing machine.
Jaryd Clifford continues from last week’s episode out from the start of the Paralympic Games, where he plans to take on the 5000m, 1500m and the marathon. Jarryd unpacks what happened at the marathon event in Penrith unfolded, going from Run the Tan the day prior to pacing his teammate Michael Roeger for his marathon run with a season of 1500m races, how he approached that race without long runs and changing the pacing plan to stick with Michael when he needed it and then finishing to post the classification World Record, followed by the recovery process afterwards.
Jarryd talks about who he regards as the best para runner of all time and where Australia stands in the world and then goes into what to expect from running the marathon in Tokyo and how to approach the expected heat, the photoshoot for the recent Nike promo, the curated Spotify playlist and explains the dynamic between vulnerability and strength.
To round out this conversation Jarryd gives insight as to how Australian Para-sports is set up in terms of funding and how it fits in with Jarryd’s support structure.
