After more than 20 years of holding various world record, Daniel Komen's previous records in the 2 mile run (7:56.81) - the indoor 3000 (7:24) and the outdoor 3000 meters (7:20.67), have all but vanished in 2023 - except for the outdoor 3000.

After Lamecha Girma broke the indoor 3k record and Jakob Ingebrigtsen broke the outdoor 2 mile record, there's but one record remaining, and Jakob Ingebrigtsen is going after it in this year's Prefontaine Classic.
