Marauding Norwegian Viking Jakob Ingebrigtsen lowered the men’s 3000m record set by Kenyan Daniel Komen in Rieti 1997 as he led a filed of highly acclaimed middle and long distance runners in Sileia, Poland.

Employing his favored front running, Ingebrigtsen clocked 7:17.55 to shave more than three seconds from Komen's 7:20.55 time set in Rieti in 1997.

Ethiopia's Berihu Aregawi gave chase to Ingebrigtsen and was rewarded with an impressive personal best time of 7:21.28 which also Ethiopia's new national record..
