Jakob Ingebrigtsen is a Norwegian middle-distance runner. He won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the 1500 metres event, setting the new Olympic and European record. Ingebrigtsen also won two gold medals at the 2018 European Championships, in the 1500 and 5000 metres events. On 10 June 2021, at the Diamond League, Ingebrigtsen set a new European record in the 5000 m with his time of 12:48.45. His older brothers Henrik and Filip are also middle-distance runners who compete internationally. They are trained by their father Gjert Ingebrigtsen. On 12 October 2019, he was the youngest pacemaker in the successful sub-2 hour marathon attempt by Eliud Kipchoge. As of 2021 Jakob is the 8th, 6th, 9th and 12th fastest man over the 1500m, 2000m, 3000m and 5000m respectively. He also holds the distinction of being one of only two men to run a sub-3:30 1500m, sub-7:30 3000m and a sub-12:50 5000m along with 3000m and 2 mile world record holder Daniel Komen.
