At the Lievin World Indoor Tour meet in France, Ethiopia's Lamecha Girma ran 7:23.81 to break Daniel Komen's 7:24.90 indoor world record, which stoof since 1998.

Mohamed Katir finished second in 7:24.68 for a new European record.
