Newbury Park High School juniors and twins Leo and Lex Young finished second and third overall in the Boys Championship race at the 2021 Clovis Invitational, helping complete a stunning 1-2-3-4 individual finish for the Panthers en route to a remarkable 19-point performance!
The cumulative team time of 73:39 (when rounding up to full seconds, as used for the all-time lists) broke the Woodward Park team time record by 109 seconds, taking down the previous standard of 75:28 set by the 2019 Newbury Park team that won the Nike Cross Nationals title that year.
It was also the fastest 5k team time ever in national history at the high school level!
In this race, both Leo and Lex (as well as teammate Aaron Sahlman) broke the Woodward Park junior class course record previous held by Buchanan's C.J. Albertson (14:51 at the 2010 state meet).
Below are the results from the race, as listed for historical purposes.
