At the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Jakob Ingebrigtsen was the favorite heading into the 1500m final and expected to win that Gold medal that has been eluding him. He ran a strong race and had the lead going into turn 4 of the last lap when Josh Kerr pulled up beside him and they battled to the finish with Kerr out sprinting Ingebrigtsen to win the Gold medal leaving Ingebrigtsen with the Silver.
