What #JoshKerr Just DID To #jakobingebrigtsen Is Absolutely Ridiculous
“I will now be focusing completely on getting ready for the World Championships.” This was what Norwegian track star Jakob Ingebrigtsen said only a month away from the World Championships in Budapest. At the time, Ingebrigtsen broke his own European 1500-meter record when he clocked 3:27.14 at the Silesia Diamond League meeting at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Chorzow, Poland.
Although he fell short of the world record of 3:26:00, set by Morocco's Hicham El Guerrouj 25 years ago in Rome, by over a second, Ingebrigtsen took it in stride. "You cannot always think about records. Today I wanted one, but I will now be focusing completely on getting ready for the World Championships," he said.
However, it appears that his preparation for the Worlds was not enough. By the end of the #trackandfield 1500m race in Budapest, it wasn’t Ingebrigtsen who crossed the line first. To say that it came as a shock is an understatement.
